Smiling is infectious; you can catch it like a flu.

You may notice your child having a higher risk of illness once they are enrolled in a group setting. Their immunity will be built up as they get older and are exposed to other children. It is for the safety of the children and state law that requires the provider to enforce the following policy:
Children may not attend/or return to Smiling Faces if any of the following symptoms are present:
- Lice – hair must be nit free and washed with appropriate medication
- Fever – a temperature of 101 or higher
- Eye infection – Yellow or green discharge that is pink eye.
- Unidentified rashes – these need to be seen by a doctor and a release form provided to return to school
- Coughing – any fits that are so severe or so uncomfortable that the child can not participate in school activity
- Diarrhea – loose bowels for two consecutive days or three times within a single day.
- Vomiting – twice or more in a day or once accompanied by a fever.
- Any unusual discomfort on the part of the child such as, ear aches, stomach pains, muscle pains or other pain that would cause the child to be crying.
- Any other contagious conditions such as but not limited to; chicken pox, measles, mumps, whooping cough or strep throat.
If needed, the provider will take symptoms case-by-case and may require a doctor’s note before the child can return to the program. A fee is still required if a child is absent due to an illness.
